BIO
Ashton Whitman is from Atlanta, Georgia, and is currently working towards earning her BFA in Film and Television from The Savannah College of Art and Design. Just as most artists try their hand at many mediums, Ashton started out her creative endeavors as a documentary photographer and has made her way to falling in love with producing moving pictures. As she continues to build her portfolio, Ashton’s primary goal is to introduce stories of the natural world and its inhabitors while reconnecting to the nature she fell in love photographing.
As Ashton continues to develop her voice as an artist, the discovery and exploration of different mediums have led her to believe in the impact of two particular story-telling methods. One being through documentary film and the other being through narrative.
Ashton's goal as a documentarian is to inform her audience of extraordinary stories that relate to humanity’s involvement in the natural world and to inspire them to give more attention and appreciation to the very thing that allows us to live.
She uses narrative storytelling as a means of breaking her reserved nature and learning about/exploring different types of relationships that exist in the world through the voice of other passionate artists.
Through her involvement in recent projects, Ashton feels she has found her place in collaborating with other artists and helping to make their visions come to life. She looks forward to telling her experiences with life and the world through a visual medium that can universally connect to all walks of life.
